On Main Street, Viroqua, stands a glorious building, the Historic Fortney. The Fortney is going through a huge renovation which was long overdue. I’m so glad to see this building get the attention it deserves.

This oil painting of the Fortney in Viroqua, Wisconsin is a triumph of loose brushwork and contrasting colors, trademarks of Dan Howard’s work, inspired by the likes of Manguin and Marquet.
